How’s Annie?? Our Final Schedule of 2021!
Our release schedule for the rest of 2021! In honor of the great 25-year In-Between, and the dark days of deep mid-winter, we here at BackToTheDoubleR.com are covering some of the extra Twin Peaks content that bubbled up between 1991 and 2015. Check out this schedule for when we are dropping holiday treats!
Dropping by the Bookhouse Again
Hello out there in Listener Land! How the heck are you?? We’ve been getting our elf on up here, working overtime to have your holiday gifts ready to rock. As promised, this week we hit up the Bookhouse and check out the second major authorized spin-off from a relative of a creator of Twin Peaks, following Jennifer Lynch’s surprisingly rewarding “The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer.” This entry in the genre is decidedly less fiery, but it has its moments! Join us in the odd little corner of the Peaks-verse that is Scott Frost’s “The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes”….
What is an ending?
In Lynch Land, an ending might be many things: a lovers’ portrait, a tragedy interrupted, a one-way ticket to purgatory… or even 25 years holding a box of spiders over your own head by the string in your teeth. This grand finale of the original series is—and isn’t—so many things, and we, dear listeners, are going to try to make sense of it all. It is our honor and privilege to bring you Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 22, “Beyond Life and Death”…
We have a winner!
Watch those catwalks, folks! This week we step-ball-change through Part One of the epic two-episode series finale—or what we thought was the series finale back in 1991! Everybody’s wrapped in plastic for Season 2, Episode 21, “Miss Twin Peaks”!!
Bonus Ep! Taking Our Crystal Balls Out for a Test Drive!
A finale this big deserves some bonus content! Can Jennifer and Colin accurately predict what the original series finale of Twin Peaks had in store? A special two-part conversation as our four rewatchers pair off and prognosticate!!
In Which the Camera is Trying to Tell Us Something!
There’s something seriously ominous brewing as we stumble within sight of an epic chasm in time! Stretch those hamstrings because we’re on Season 2, Episode 20, “The Path to the Black Lodge”!
In Which Pieces are Jostled Into Position
Hey, Ted Raimi! There’s a winding in the wind—but are we winding up? Or just winding around? Not to worry, we’ll get you all sorted in this, Season 2, Episode 19, “Variations on Relations"…
Cupid Needs to Cool His Jets
Great Gaping Batcaves, Batman! This week, we follow our intrepid lawmen into a little piece of Hollywood history in Season 2, Episode 18, “On the Wings of Love"…
Twin Peaks! Where the Owls are Spotted!
We’re too sexy for these jodhpurs! We’ve seen the light and traded in our Cubans for carrots in order to better contemplate Season 2, Episode 17, “Wounds and Scars"…
Log Lady Redux
Well, that’s one way to get written off a show! We relished the zany supernatural hijinks this week for Season 2, Episode 16, “The Condemned Woman" even if we’re mostly at a loss to explain it, too. But we’re definitely back in the city limits of Twin Peaks, and we couldn’t be happier!
Welcome back! (Now about that flag…)
It’s good news/bad news in Twin Peaks this week! In Season 2, Episode 15, “Slaves and Masters,” we return to the ominous vibe we love with Annie Hall herself behind the camera, but this is also a high point of low points as the ugly myths of our collective past are trotted out for some not-laughs. But we’re still psyched to have rounded the bend, so order up and come on down…
It’s almost like our old favorite Twin Peaks!!
Can you feel that? Is that some of that old Twin Peaks magic? This week, we're tackling Season 2, Episode 14, "Double Play" and we like what we're seeing…
Don’t throw out that champagne, James! You’ve only got 12 bucks!
Okay, that’s a little more like it! We get back to some Twin Peaksy goodness this week in Season 2, Episode 13: “Checkmate”! We start with otherworldly amnesia and end with a dead doppelgänger—and not a minute too soon! Come find out how this episode brings up deadnaming, fan betrayal, and the toxic staying power of the American Civil War…
Local Legend: An Ode to Margaret Lanterman, The Once and Forever Log Lady
The lady with the log. Perhaps another actor would blanch at forever being saddled with that character. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery sound curmudgeonly when discussing Han Solo or James Bond. Catherine E. Coulson was not like that.
Well, He’s No Scarlett Johannson…
Oh, man, is this show beleaguered or brilliant? Both? We’re feeling good about Season 2, Episode 12: “The Black Widow” but we’re suspicious. Fortunately, there’s a heroic return in this ep, so we are keeping the faith. Come on down!
You’re Into the Time Slip…
Hey, if it’s Thursday, it must be our new regular posting day! This week, we tackle Season 2, Episode 11, “Masked Ball” and it kind of all turns to porridge, and not in the good way. But we muddled through for you, Listeners! Come on down…
Between Two Worlds: My Favorite Scene
Damon ventures into the Red Room and out between two worlds in his favorite scene from Twin Peaks.
What We Did on Summer Vacation
Hey, gang, we’re back!! Summer hiatus was great, but we got a rewatch to do! We return to the world of Twin Peaks for the gear-grinding midseason quasi-reboot that is Season 2, Episode 10, “Dispute Between Brothers” and it’s surprisingly controversial…!
Into the Light Of My Favorite Twin Peaks Scene
This is the scene that the first seventeen episodes of Twin Peaks has been building toward
