S2, E1, PART 1: May the Giant Be With You

This week we are serving up a DOUBLE HELPING of Back to the Double R! The Twin Peaks Season 2 premiere is so jam-packed with Peaksian goodness, we needed two podcasts just to wrangle it. As always, plot details for these episodes are fair game; watch before listening!

PART ONE: In this double-barreled episode we examine the cultural impact of Twin Peaks, name our dream directors for an episode, and tackle the first half of the season premiere. “May the Giant Be With You” debuted 9/30/90, written by Mark Frost and David Lynch, with a teleplay by Frost. David Lynch directed this episode. Damon goes full Peaks-ademic on the opening scene and flags certain sonic peculiarities; Jennifer crosses the border to One-Eyed Jacks for a disturbing family interaction and a sad revelation about Blackie; Colin is there when Cooper wakes up in the hospital, then tracks Leland’s surprising glow up; Damon is at the Johnson house, where cocaine (and a literal puzzle!) appear; and Jonathan gives Donna Hayward her closeup.
